That is not what happened. The President ordered the strike on Soleimani. He did not lie about the reason for killing him. The killing was justified by every legal standard. The Iranians shot down down a civilian passenger plane for reasons known only to them We suspect it was incompetence on their part. The lied about shooting the aircraft down until international pressure forced them to admit having done so.

















That isno that was not the result or trumps fault the issue was the incompetence of the Iranian military thats the reality of it .

If we're only going to address the 21st century U.S policy toward Iran, then I'd ask why trump just backed out of the Iran agreement and forced our former allies to reinstate sanctions? We know the answer 'why', (Obama envy) but the real question is 'why didn't the best negotiator in the world simply call Iran to the table and keep the talks open?

It could be argued that the forced sanctions are an act of war in Iran's view, so they simply continued to fund bad actors. trump doesn't understand that Iran is on the brink of major societal changes, and he just set that back decades.

After all is said an done, the law of unintended consequences often accompanies actions that are poorly considered. The reason that proxies are used to undertake these sorts of actions is to specifically avoid provoking a pissing contest because one country is deliberately and openly humiliated by another. The principals behind the proxies are known to all parties, but there is no direct challenge. The downing of flight 752 would not have happened if America did not advertise their assassination of a high ranking Iranian military leader and essentially challenge Iran to do anything about it and 176 innocent third parties would not have died.
