Virginia Governor Declares State Of Emergency Ahead Of Gun Rights Rally

(NPR) Virginia Governor Declares State Of Emergency Ahead Of Gun Rights Rally

    January 15, 20204:02 PM ET

Fearing potential violence, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is declaring a state of emergency and is banning firearms and other weapons on the Capitol grounds in Richmond ahead of a gun rights demonstration planned for next week.

"We have received credible intelligence from our law enforcement agencies that there are groups with malicious plans for the rally that is planned for Monday," Northam said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Gun rights supporters are preparing to converge on Richmond for a lobbying day and a rally Monday morning. They're opposed to efforts by Virginia Democrats — who've just taken over control of the Virginia legislature following the November 2019 elections — to pass a slate of gun control bills backed by Northam.

The event, hosted by Virginia Citizens Defense League, is expected to draw thousands of armed demonstrators, some from out of state. Organizers have said they hope to hold a peaceful event.
The only ones with "malicious plans" are Virginia Democrats. They want to strip Virginians of their right to keep and bear arms. This in the same State that produced Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, James Monroe, Patrick Henry, etc. What a disgrace.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.
    --John Adams

I doubt it. Or perhaps some anti-gun groups are making threats- the right doesn't act this way. Even the militia groups have been very controlled in past demonstrations.

Here is a statement from the Virginia Citizens Defense League with dos and don't for the protest- they are the event organizers.

The VCDL is a state-based gun rights group, but they’re excellent. They’re organizing multiple buses to get their people to voice their concerns and opinions to their representatives. And this has apparently made Gov. Ralph Northam very nervous. He’s declaring a state of emergency, banning firearms on capitol grounds over threats or something (via WaPo):

Townhall has been to VCDL’s 2016 rally on Lobby Day. There were no neo-Nazis. There are no such people in VCDL as far as I can see. This is a rally in support of freedom, the Constitution, and the Second Amendment.....snip~

Democrats must be worried that they can't have their Aunty Fa shock troops show up. As they have been getting their asses kicked by Biker Clubs.

First Salvo: Here Are The Three Anti-Gun Bills Virginia Democrats Are Voting On Today.....

Democrats control all in the Old Dominion. They’re liberal. They’re anti-gun. They want to turn Virginia into Maryland. These folks wasted no time getting universal background checks, a ban on so-called assault weapons, one-gun-a-month law, magazine limits, and increasing the age to purchase guns on the docket. Something is going to pass. That’s the bad news. The good news is with enough pressure; Virginia’s Second Amendment supporters and gun owners can hopefully scare lawmakers from some of the more radical measures.

The National Rifle Association’s lobbying arm has already noted that some of these proposed bills, like banning private sales that don’t pay fees and are done without prior authorization from government authority is totally unenforceable and will have zero impact on fighting crime (via NRA-ILA):

Senate Bill 35, introduced by Senator Scott Surovell, would destroy Virginia’s firearm preemption laws by allowing localities to create new “gun-free zones” in and around public buildings, parks, and permitted events such as farmer’s markets. Criminals would ignore these restrictions, leaving law-abiding citizens unable to defend themselves and their loved ones.
Senate Bill 69, introduced by Senator Mamie Locke, commonly referred to as “one-gun-a-month,” would arbitrarily ration an individual’s right to lawfully purchase a handgun to once within 30 days.
Senate Bill 70, introduced by Senator Louise Lucas, would ban sales between private individuals without first paying fees and obtaining government permission. Firearm sales between friends, neighbors, or fellow hunters, would not be exempted. This proposal would have no impact on crime and is completely unenforceable.....snip~

The Demos have the majority so the bills will pass. Its up to the People to put an end to the Demos gun grab and shredding of the Constitution. Question is.....will the People allow the Demos to steamroll them. Or not.

Elections have consequences. The Republicans didn't bother to vote in the last election. And there was zero support from national GOP.

Indeed they do. Moreover the Repubs didn't even run candidates for Senate Offices. Now the Virginia people have to play like Democrats and be the resistance and do anything and everything to take back their state.

They can start by calling back any Demos elected to Office.

This will help energize the R's in November.

There will be a high turnout in November. Except for disappointed Bernie voters if he doesn't get the nomination.

Every pro-gun man or woman that attends the event should have a realistic looking toy plastic 9mm in a side holster on full display. Let the authorities try to deal with the mess that would create.
