    Right, that was the premise of the thread as I saw it.

    We would still need a military and a space force to boldly go.

    I read a Sci Fi series like this. Civilians were basically just pursuing leisure. While the military was defending earth and its colonies.

    The great thing about science fiction is that it dares to defy preconceived concepts. It dares to imagine something different. Many of our scientific breakthroughs are literally due to science fiction thinking outside of the box and inspiring others to do the same. Humanity is not going to fundamentally change - we will still pursue those activities that challenge us.

    They do that now if they want but without money there would no longer be a welfare system for bums to live off those who do work.

    Today, the churches want your money. Ask yourself, what did the churches want before money? Bingo. Sheep, cattle,goats, wheat, barley, rye, wine, beer, liquor. And, the other big organizational leech, the government, wanted the same.
