In real life body armor can indeed safe your life. I still have a level 3 vest I used at work .
But body armor will still expose you to impach . a 9 mm traveling at 1200 feet per second will cause you to feel a lot of pain and severe brusing and a l3 vest will restrict your movement.
The new generation ones are a lot better. I have a couple of IIIa vests and the difference between my older ones and the newest one is really pretty amazing. It is not nearly as cardboardy (if that's a word) as the older ones. It is lighte, thinner, and more flexible. The plate armor I carry in my active shooter bag still weighs a ton, but I'll take that in order to be able to stop a .308 round. The new ceramic hybrids are lighter, but I haven't been able to convince myself to get one yet.

I have things like that posted all over the place. It is important that shooters know and understand it. Another one of my favorites and one I use on the range all the time when training shooters to shoot controlled pairs is "Anyone worth shooting once is worth shooting twice".

I find it too easy to accidentally fire, under pressure, with a striker pistol. My biggest fear with a 1911 is under pressure not remembering to take the safety off. This is the reason I carry a Sig MK25 double/single action.
As far as reliable pistols are concerned under any condition the MK25 rates high but probably the Glocks rate the highest.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.
When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.
And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.
