I guess it depends on what they are made out of. I can't say that I know, because I was assuming that cotton would be most comfortable, however it fades. Synthetics hold color better, but they do fade over time. How long are you expected to keep a set of fatigues before replacing them?

I see. Well then if they are synthetic, they won't fade much over a year of laundering.

I say a year for people who actually go to the field.

U.S. Space Force has lifted off, now the journey begins

It is the beginning of a new era.

A team of U.S. military and civilian defense officials spent most of 2019 drawing up plans to create a Space Force as a new service branch within the Air Force. But it wasn’t until Congress reached a deal in December on the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that the Space Force went from concept to reality.

Even the planners of the Space Force didn’t know if or when it would happen.

“We honestly didn’t know until mid-December,” said Air Force Maj Gen John Shaw, commander of the U.S. Space Force’s newly created Space Operations Command at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.
This in common with the privatization of near earth orbit is starting something revolutionary. Humans are soon going to start expanding into space.

An interesting article about the Space Force. The Space Force is to the Air Force what the Marines are to the Navy.

I had a nice long phone conversation with my kid in the Army last night. (I say "kid"...he'll be 43 in July.) He's a doctor, a Captain in the Army Medical Corps, probably looking at a promotion to Major in the coming year. He's older than most of his rank, having been a Blackhawk helicopter pilot and an enlisted tank mechanic before that. He's currently stationed in Alabama, having just earned his Flight Surgeon wings, and they've got him going around that part of the country to various military and civilian facilities, with the goal of his being board certified in Aerospace Medicine and Occupational Medicine. (I told him the Aerospace part sounded cooler, and he agreed that it is.) He told me that he was recently at a NASA facility - I'm guessing Huntsville - and attended some classes being taught by astronauts. He said that being around NASA really makes him want to work for NASA. So I told him, "Well, you know what it sounds like you might soon be a part of, don't you?" A moment's pause, and we both said in unison..."SPACE FORCE!!!"

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

Does the US Army's Space Command still exist?

Years ago (early 80s), there was talk of making Special Operations Forces a separate branch of service. JFK Center sent out a notice requesting input on design for a dress uniform for the new branch if it ever came into being. When the results were compiled, they were quickly discarded because the vast majority of responses suggested a uniform that was very similar to the dress uniform of the Waffen SS (minus the armband).

I never understood that. They should go back to the dungarees they used in my day.
