Trump supporters do not want the truth.

While asking for witnesses in the impeachment trial I asked...

If there are no witnesses then this “trial” will not end once the final vote is taken. Serious justification for continuing doubt will remain. For the good of de-escalating public dialogue we must have witnesses. But for republicans, the continuing doubt is preferable to the possibility of continuing certainty that Trump's intentions were self-motivated. They will neither seek nor accept the truth that they fear.

There is one recurring pattern here. You Trump supporters consistently dance around and evade answering that one simple question. It's like pulling teeth:

Does the truth matter to you?

This tells me everything I need to know about you guys. I don't think it's possible to take anything any of you say seriously anymore. Until you can give an unqualified, unequivocal answer to that, you have no credibility.

Anyone care to make their stand?

You really are getting tiresome. No one dodged your question.

STOP IT. YOU ARE BEING SILLY. I have drafted several responses to your questions, but have deleted all of them. As stated by the great Mona Lisa Vito, it's a bull$#@! question, one that can't be answered. More importantly, one that you (not you individually, you collectively) really don't want an answer to. "Does the truth matter" - the truth doesn't matter to you. We've seen that time and time and time again. This is just a silly question that you have formulated and designed, based on facts that you think that you have crafted and created. It's total bull$#@!. You know it, I know it, and everybody knows it.

    What truth?
Who's truth - at what time?
To what question, based on when?
    Based on who's perception?
    Under who's definition of right/wrong?
Under who's definition of personal gain?
    Under who's definition of obstruction?
Under who's definition of abuse of power?

You impeached the man -- which you clamored for since prior to his election - based on the immediacy of the danger, with no evidence, just hearsay, but then you held it for nearly 3 weeks. Where's the truth in the immediacy? You lied to us about the immediacy of the danger. That's a truth. Right? Now, with full knowledge that the R's control the senate, you want to have what you want there but can't -- that's another truth, yes? You are stomping your little size 5 and saying that if you don't get your way, then there's no "truth" to the proceedings, right? Another truth. You are going to scream regardless. If you get your witnesses and lose (which you will) you will scream bloody murder.

The truth always matters - but the truth is irrelevant in a trial - any trial lawyer knows that. So, yes, the truth matters but it is irrelevant. If every witness came out and supported the president, you'd say that they'd lie and refuse to accept the truth - that's another truth, yes? You want to say you won regardless of the verdict. You, like the R's are in this to win it. The truth doesn't matter to you, getting this guy does. Period.
Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect. -- Woody Hayes

The truth is that their is a soft coup. The coup plotters need to be tried and executed. The coup supporters need to be tried and jailed for life.

Hanger answered you. As usual, you just decided that since his answer wasn't what you wanted to hear, it didn't count.

Most people know the truth. The issue has been explored more than sufficiently to form conclusions. There is no need for additional witnesses to determine whether the President should have been impeached at all, much less removed from office.

The question that does need to be answered though is how this thing got set in motion and who was the driving force behind it, and were any laws broken in the process. Schiff needs to called in and strapped to a table and have anal probes run so deep they hit the roof of his mouth. The "whistle blower", if there is one, needs to be put under a microscope. All communication, electronic or written between Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi needs to be demanded under subpoena and examined to see how long this plot to overthrow the government has been in effect. Biden and Obama BOTH need to be pulled in to find out what they knew of Hunter Biden's activities.

The investigation should begin the second this farce of an impeachment trial is over.

I really do not mind if witnesses are allowed. But it should work both ways:
If the Democrats may subpoena, say, John Bolton, then the Republicans should be allowed to require Hunter Biden to testify.

    All or nothing.

For ideologues--who, basically, are the political-philosophy equivalent of religious fundamentalists--"the truth" is something they believe to have escaped all but a select few (including, of course, themselves).

Classic. That is better than citing Justice Holmes or even the great Justice Scalia.

Have you ever used that in court? If not, you definitely should.
