If his photos are in a common format, like bmp, MS Paint will work. If they are in some other less common format, then perhaps he will have to download some other graphics program or use a free service in which he can upload the photos and choose to save them as jpgs.

BMP is not common. I haven't even seen a bmp image since about 1998. Like I said, we don't know what he's using, but if he wants to retain control of his image quality, converting to jpg is not recommended. Image quality usually suffers converting to jpg. Plus he has no control over the size of the image to which he is converting if he yields it to whatever jpg conversion gives him.

Paint has instructions for resizing a bitmap image right up at the top.

Might this also work with a ***.gif file ? I don't care if it is motion or not. Just the image is what I would like to have.

Question 2. What about ***.png files ? Sometimes they are too large to post and I would like to convert all I have.

If image quality, particularly sharpness, is a concern to you, try to keep your images in the same format when you reduce them. That's my opinion, but I've dealt with a few images.

I would also suggest carefully examining the resulting image after reduction before you erase the original, if that's what you intend to do.

That's common. You can adjust for it to an extent in-camera, if you want.

Thanks! Folks! All this is Greek to me, but I will give it a shot.

Gotta go to work this morning, getting folks to sign petitions.

I may have to have my GEEK MAN come up and explain all this. He rarely ever charges me anything.
