Your eternity might very well go nowhere but here. What?

I'd like to know why one cannot will disposition of ones body after death.

It is evident to me that what happens to your body after you die is not yours to decide. This is not right. How your body is disposed of by, say, cremation, is up to your next of kin or executor, who may decide to have you buried instead, or mounted in a college biology exhibit, for that matter, against your wishes.

No matter what you want, it's ultimately not your call but their call.

But even worse than that, your genes can be extracted and patented by people and/or corporations, and so your genetics are potentially up for sale in the developing age of clones and so forth.

On a theological level, this is condemnation to Hell, yes? This is pure real Satanism.

Just to play devils advocate , do you actually own your DNA, particularly after you have expired? You actually share it with many members of your family and it has been passed down to you through thousands of generations of people. Did you pay for it or even have a specific record of its pattern? Did you patent it?
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

Did I just hear a cash register ring? Oh for pete sake. I'm asking for opinions, not hypotheticals. Come back in a week.

Your DNA is unique, but you do underscore the problem.

Given your well thought out question, can we assume this is a very familiar subject with all sorts of Satanic speculation over glasses of wine next to warm fires?

One obvious solution, ironically enough, would be to jump into a volcano.

    Who'd a guessed?

You do know what it means to play devil's advocate, don't you? It means that I'm going to deliberately assume the antithesis of your argument which gives you the opportunity to substantiate your opinion with a logical and reasoned argument. By definition that means not calling me a '$#@!head'.

First and foremost, a dead body has no rights, notwithstanding laws that make it illegal to commit an indignity to a dead body. Otherwise, your corpse legally belongs to your family, if they choose to claim it. If not, it has about the same status as medical waste. Unclaimed corpses are made available to medical schools and other organizations that use human remains for scientific study. If the corpse is not considered useful for scientific study it is disposed of by the City. The law has not assigned any value to the uniqueness of your DNA.

I don't believe in the existence of Satan, so you can be rest assured that my speculation is not Satanic. Furthermore, I have never even considered the topic under discussion until you brought it up.

As long as your name is not JOE with a brain cloud, this might work.

Maybe we need an organization that advocates the legal rights of a stiff ?

Maybe people should write in the will , that they would like their head stuffed by a taxidermist , and mounted on a polished timber shield ? .....stranger things have happened . Have you ever seen a sailor perform the sex act on a dead sardine ?
