The pilot was from Great Falls, Montana.

... the Lockheed C-130 Hercules ... was carrying fire retardant when it crashed over Cooma, south of the Australian capital of Canberra.

Flight tracker ... shows the tanker took off from an airport in Richmond, Australia and headed south. According to the flight map, the plane's flight path cut off sometime around 2 p.m. local time.

The C-130 was flying at 265 miles per hour at approximately 12,000 feet when the plane's flight path suddenly ended. Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said "there is no indication at this state what caused the accident."

... Ian McBeth was a "highly qualified and respected C-130 pilot with many years fighting fire, both in the military and with Coulson Aviation... (Ian) has spent his entire career flying C-130's and was a qualified instructor and evaluate pilot." https://www.kulr8.com/great-falls/mo...baa122029.html

A beautiful place. Visited while following the Lewis and Clark Trail. Followed it all the way into the Bitterroot Mountains and over....on a horse.

    Take a car.

Undaunted Courage the book. Captain Lewis locates these falls, hears them of course long before he sees them. It required a portage around the Falls to get back on the Missouri. Today, you can get into Great Falls and take a canoe or kayak back east through the River that still looks much the same as it did when Lewis and Clark came through.....stunning, I recommend to all. And am saddened these fire fighters won't ever see it again.

God's country, I'm sure this hero is with him today.

You don't get to take any credit for the great heroic deeds of others....and certainly not for cheap brownie points on an online forum....very poor form and quite disrespectful......go away and think about it.
