    This Is How Democracy Dies

This Is How Democracy Dies: "Citizens in stable democracies are supposed to be satisfied with the democratic process. Individual politicians or administrations may be unpopular. But if the public lacks commitment to democratic principles, or loses faith in democratic institutions, demagogues and opportunists may brush these aside."

"So what seemed like a strange puzzle in 2015 now looks like a more straightforward story. Citizens have become steadily disenchanted with their democratic systems. As a result, they are more and more willing to vote for extremist politicians who promise to break with the status quo. It is perfectly possible that democracies will recover from their current crisis in the years to come. But every new data point makes it that much harder to deny that such a crisis exists."

It is the constant tearing down of our systems by the press that undermines the support of the governed.

The problem is that liberal democracies emphasize the machinery of democracy. If the machinery is functioning democracy is determined to be in good health. Whether or not the system is meeting the needs of the governed isn't a factor. I've gotten the impression that the hopes and aspirations of a people are perceived as a danger to the democratic status quo. It has often been said that nothing ever gets done in parliaments/Congress and I suspect that's how our systems are intended to function.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

By "machinery of democracy" do you mean voting? Search seems to point to that.

Yeah, voting, election cycles etc. This is why voter apathy is a much more critical issue than the defenders of the status quo (right or left) treat it.

    And democrats too.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

Most of the world does not know what a Democracy is. Even in the USA we have only certain limited characteristics of Democracy. Then we have such a poor educational system it leaves people not knowing what to do with it except find ways to steal from others.
Too many people are proud of themselves when they screw the system and get more than they put in.

All that being said, I donot want gang rule aka Democracy.
