The Venezuelan people did not vote for maduro!! The voting system in Venezuela is controlled by the leftist dictatorship regime that chavez started, so Humm... who would win the elections?? When chavez called for "elections" he banned opposition leaders from campaigning as presidential candidates falsely accusing them of crimes they did not commit. The Judicial system in Venezuela is you are guilty until otherwise demonstrated and not like ours. nicholas maduro is not for democracy... His and his party followers motto is: "Homeland and Socialism or Death"

Here, a pro-regime militia parading in Caracas... chavez disarmed the rightful gun owners and gave the guns to his followers creating the regime militia. Today, any of them will kill you if you dare to oppose the regime.

That should be the case, right? Not in Venezuela... In Venezuela, remember, the political system had been center left for forty years until the arrival of the extreme left, Socialist/Communist or how they call it "Socialism of 21st Century," represented by hugo chavez and now, maduro. Those Socialist-Democratic parties that held the power for so long, established an electoral system in which the state subsidized the presidential candidates. The government would provide money to presidential candidates for their campaign. In addition, candidates were able to receive money from companies and private individuals. For forty years, the system worked because the power was getting shifted from one socialist-democratic party to the other. When chavez became ""president,"" he eliminated the ability of companies and private citizens to make donations toward the candidate's campaign and instead, his administration funded their campaigns. Curiously, however, chavez' "presidential" campaigns always ended up with more funds and were designed to reach more population. By the time the people became aware he was a dictator in disguise and started opposing him, he had already made the people dependent on welfare programs. When the time for elections arrived, his followers - in charge of the neighborhoods, counties, etc. - told the voters it would be a very good idea to vote for him or face the risk of losing their welfare programs that included payments for unemployment, housing, education, and food. In addition to that, chavez dismantled the Supreme Electoral Council, a multi-partisan organization that controlled elections and created a government branch called, The Electoral Power through the National Election Council. Only chavez then, and now maduro would appoint members to that council and they have controlled the elections since then. Hugo Chavez was the last president " pseudo-democratically" elected by the Venezuelan people and the way he was able to grab power. Adding insult to injury, later on and under the care of the then Vice President, Tareck El Aissani, there were issued at least 10.000 illegal passports to citizens of Syria, Iran, and other Middle Eastern countries who entered Venezuela. They would vote for chavez making sure, he would remain in power... I believe, the illegal issue of passports to citizens of the same or other communist countries, like China, for example, continues and so, the dictatorial chavez/maduro regime in Venezuela.
