Roger Stone hires Mob Lawyer ?

    Just In

Roger Stone is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 20.

As sentencing approaches, Roger Stone turns to former mob lawyer for help

    https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/sent...ry?id=68973648

With his sentencing fast approaching, Roger Stone is bolstering his defense team with a veteran criminal defense attorney whose past roster of clients included John Gotti Jr. and other high-profile figures allegedly involved in organized crime.

New York attorney Seth Ginsberg has an extensive background in criminal defense work.

In a filing this week, Judge Amy Berman Jackson granted Stone's request to bring Ginsberg onto his team.

"Roger has an excellent team of attorneys and I'm very pleased he's asked me to assist them," Ginsberg told ABC News on Thursday. Ginsberg added that he was brought on to help Stone's legal team with their sentencing strategy.

Ginsberg has had a colorful career inside and outside the courthouse.
At one point, in 2010, he was banned from a Manhattan federal detention center after he was caught walking in with marijuana in his bag while on his way to visit an alleged associate of the Gambino crime family.

He also previously represented an alleged member of the Luchese crime family.

The move comes after Stone's case unexpectedly touched off a major firestorm in Washington this week.

Judge Jackson is scheduled to sentence Stone on Feb. 20.

Mob lawyer Seth Ginsberg (left, with lawyer Charles Carnesi) got caught carrying marijuana in his briefcase as he tried to go into Manhattan federal lockup to see a client.

Hey, I would hire Satan himself if he would get me off.
There is lots here to support a mistrial.
That is the brass ring they should be reaching for.

No one would say mob lawyers are bad at their job.
NONE ARE HELPLESS...There are only those WEAK ENOUGH to believe they are...and those STRONG ENOUGH to revel in the knowledge they are not.

Jackson said, saying she’d rule on the merits of Stone’s mistrial motion only after she announces his sentence two days from Tuesday. But she assured the defense team that this would not adversely affect Stone and that she would defer executing the sentence and would extend the appeal deadline.

Jackson said she would rule “expeditiously” but did not want it to be “rushed.”

Jackson said she would carefully review the defense’s motion for a retrial, the government’s opposition to it, and would decide whether a post-sentencing hearing would be necessary before she makes her decision. …..snip~

Just not brought to you by Leftism.

“The Stone case was prosecuted while I was attorney general — and I supported it,” Barr said on Thursday. “I think it was established, he was convicted of obstructing Congress and witness tampering. And I thought that was a righteous prosecution. And I was happy that he was convicted.”

The judge rejected Stone’s previous claim that he was entitled to a new trial. Jackson, an Obama appointee, presided over a number of other spinoff cases from Mueller’s investigation.....snip~

    Just in from the Hill.

A tale of two lies: Stone, McCabe and the danger of a double standard for justice.....

America is now officially more confused than Boris Johnson’s barber.
President Trump campaign adviser, Roger Stone was arrested by an FBI SWAT team, tried and convicted for lying to Congress and messing with a witness, and nearly had a book the size of a blue state thrown at him at sentencing. Meanwhile, Andrew McCabe the fired FBI deputy director who, while in his official capacity, lied under oath in violation of a federal statute, won’t be charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for any criminality. Go forth, Andrew, and make more money as a CNN analyst.

What seems confusing is really becoming quite plain to all of America: Those on one side of the political aisle are feeling the heat of the justice system, while those on the other side are not. It’s kind of like political “stop and frisk” enforcement: “Hey, Republican, what are you doing in this neighborhood? Up against the wall. Let’s see what we can find on you that we can take to court.”

Yet, while frisking, the enforcers ignore the well-heeled looters behind them, destroying records, selling pay-for-play access, seeking Russian propaganda for political dirty tricks, lying to Congress and the FBI — all activities which, to date, seem consequence-free.

So shed no tear for Roger Stone. He’s a lifelong political hack, and who among us objects to political hacks spending some time in prison orange? His main mistake was not being a senior executive of a large law enforcement or intelligence agency, where you can lie under oath but not much happens to you. Sorry, Roger, you’re just a party operative. You don’t get those courtesies.

The dangerous perception, however, is that we truly do have a dual system of justice, an unequal application of law and penalty. This we cannot afford......snip~

Trump should pardon Stone and Flynn on the same day. The outrage from the left will be epic.

When you're dealing with a corrupt political system you need an attorney who is a part of the corrupt political system. A member of my family asked me to recommend a local attorney and I said, "Do you want an honest attorney who will do the work or do you need a connected attorney to pull strings and get what you want?"

"All I need today is an honest attorney." Hey, those are hard to find but I recommended Frank Johnson. "What if I needed one of the others?" "Oh, then get the most recent District Attorney, Jim Fishler."
