We all generalize others.
There is a reason stereo-types exist.
*************************************************
If there was a bar with four vehicles parked in front of it and you looked at all of them...
a. One vehicle was a Truck with an NRA bumper sticker and a local country radio station sticker on its bumper
b. One was a Prius with a faded " I'm with her " and rainbow sticker on its bumper.
c. The third had a USMC sticker and was an SUV.
d. The fourth was a Toyota Camry with no stickers but a family of four decal in its rear window.
*********************************************
Now match the owners when you walk in the bar.
1 is a male in his mid 20's with a cowboy hat on and sipping a beer.
another is a young college aged female student sipping some white wine.
another is an older middle-aged man with a Marine ball cap and sipping a beer.
the last is a middle-aged woman drinking a run & coke.
now, match em' up and try and not generalize.
Your generalized answers could be 100% correct, or they could be 100% wrong.
Either way, you can still feel safe by generalizing, because they DO work most of the time.

Now for some fun.....and a laugh....
The Pruis belonged to the gay guy wearing the cowboy hat.
The truck with the NRA sticker belonged to the college-aged girl from Kansas.
The SUV with the Marine sticker belonged to the middle-aged woman who is a Marine veteran.
...and the Toyota belonged to the guy wearing the Marine ball cap as he borrowed his wife's car.
