Foods a big deal to me

    I grew up on a farm .
Food was a big deal. We disnt have a lot of money but we ate well.
Lots of deer squirrel rabbit grouse quail and pheasant.
We raised our own chickens beef and pigs for both consumption and sale same with eggs home made butter and cheeses.
We had big gardens veggies of types aspargas cabbage peppers and corn were my favorite.
Beans and cornbread were ate regulary.
No one came to the house that wasnt offered a meal even if they were just stopping by such as a salesman .
Today i eat things I never could due to price .
But things like potatos and cabbage broqn beans and cornbread pork and sauerkraut greens with oil and vinegarhome made slumgullion are still a staple in my diet.
You can take the hillbilly out of the hills but you will never take all the hillbilly out of the hillbilly.

After I got married and we moved to a city in NC, (I was raised on a farm in SC) what shocked me is how bad can vegtables tasted. I loved peas, butter beans, corn ect, but not from those cans.

We buy a lot of fresh veggies at publix and down town produce. Earth fare to before they closed.
But We use canned foods also expecially for our emergency food zombie apocalypse pantry lol.
    But fresh veggies are better.
Expecially with green beans peas asparagas carrots.

I can't stand that graham-cracker crust used with cheesecake for some reason.
