Yes, Russia does want Trump elected. why?

(I've been busy with work for the last few days (still am) but thought I would stop in for this quickie...)

Looks like Trump was angry that Joe Mcguire arranged a briefing for lawmakers last week. Mcguire is apparently leaving as acting DNI. I wouldn't be shocked if this had something to do with it.

The briefing topic? Russia is currently actively involved in election interference in order to get Trump re-elected.

In October the Republican led Senate Intelligence Committee released a report concluding that Russia preferred Trump to win the 2016 election.

Trump reportedly berated Mcguire for making this information available to Democrats. He doesn't seem to understand that both sides deserve to know what's going on. Shouldn't Mcguire have told Democrats?

I asked this question before but nobody here seemed to even accept the premise:

Why does Putin want Trump in power?

I'm going to love watching you leave here when Trump gets re-elected.
That Russia thing is old news and worn out.

Lies? When you hear the painful truth you retreat into denial? Pathetic. You don't need to take my word for it. You can check the Senate committee's conclusions yourself. unless you think they are lying too.

Probably because the Democrats are pushing the false narrative that Russia is our enemy for their political gain.

Your diving into conspiracy theory is fun to watch. You believing all fake news is hilarious.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

The Senate did not investigate Trump. That was not their duty. Mueller found nothing, the House couldn't get anything on Trump.
Now you're accusing the Senate? You just start at the top of your Blame List and repeat when you get to the last line.
You're like the proverbial dog chasing its own tail.
Tomorrow it'll be another conspiracy theory and so it goes on for weeks now and you haven't proved anything except your gullibility.
Even in the face of Truth, you find a way to lie.

I am not at all sure the information is accurate, but let's assume for the sake of argument that it is.

President Trump has actually been pretty hard on Russia, but Putin knows the game and historically, Russians look at the long game.

Trump is a businessman. He thinks like a businessman. Businessmen know when to play hardball and when to give a little to get a little. Putin recognizes that. So, he looks at the candidates, one of whom is going to be POTUS.

Trump... known entity, businessman, someone with whom you can negotiate.

Biden... senile old $#@! with nothing to offer.

    Warren.... liar, nutcase.

Sanders... another senile old $#@! who might be corruptible, but yells a lot.

    Buttiwhateverthefuckhisnameis... a gnat.

Klobuchar... not strong enough to make herself even a worthy opponent.

So, it pretty much boils down to Sanders and Trump. One of them is a businessman with decades of negotiation experience who knows how to play give and take and is likely to push for a deal that makes everyone come out with not exactly what they wanted, but enough. The other one yells and points his fingers a lot. He is more likely to be able to be bought, but who would want to spend any amount of time in a closed room with him?

The answer is relatively simple. Russia, then the Soviet Union, left Eastern Europe and instead of leaving well enough alone we brought NATO right to their doorstep in the Baltic Republics no less. Imagine the US leaving Western Europe and the Soviet Union putting tanks in Quebec. That's what we did. So, yes, Russia has a general interest in seeing a weaker NATO and a NATO without the US is at least somewhat weaker.

That being said, I still don't care one iota if NATO is weaker without the US. The remaining members have the wherewithal to increase spending on their own. They have a larger population than Russia, have a larger GDP, have more tanks, more soldiers, more artillery. They also have nuclear weapons.

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...mp-second-term

"Trump re-election could sound death knell for Nato, allies fear"

Rank hyperbole of course because it doesn't spell the death knell for NATO, it would spell the death knell for US participation in NATO.

We really can't afford this anymore, we just DON'T have the money.

The Russians aren't coming, they aren't going to invade Poland or storm across the Oder again to seize Berlin.
