USA Hockey Team MAGA in 1980 and in 2020!

How great to see the patriots of the 1980 Olympic Hockey team standing with the President and being honored for that great moments. They were MAGA before MAGA was coolOf course the Maoist left has to have melt down over this. This is an example of tearing down everything that brings us together. That is what Maoists do.https://www.rawstory.com/2020/02/sol...ing-maga-hats/

Back then, we faced seemingly insurmountable odds because we sent college kids to the olympics, and USSR sent professional men.

These days, everyone sends pros. The Miracle On Ice was a truly special moment.

So was the ensuing visit to the White House. The nation was truly proud

I remember it like it was yesterday.

In the Boston area we grew up on ice but I wonder how much this meant to the the lower 30+ states. The college hockey teams were Boston U and Boston Collage, Northeastern, Minnesota U, North Dakota, Michigan Tech... not your normal big sports colleges.
The LA Kings were the only NHL team I can think of that was not in a state touching the Canadian border or lake, or a New England state.

So nothing was going to stop us from watching it. Did you that did not have ice outside your door care about the Miracle on Ice?

Remember when they robbed the basketball team? Wow.

A good article describing it: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/bl...asketball-1972

I saw a documentary a few years ago about how the Russians were treated after they lost to us. Not good. Not good at all....

I remember it well. It was absurd. There are still a pile of silver medals that the U.S team refused to accept.

    Hmmm...video won't play here.

Speaking of eighties hockey. If you enjoy Hockey, and history, I recommend The Russian 5. It's about the Detroit Red Wings in the eighties as the first professional hockey team to recruit Russian players, fascinating stuff...
