Looking beyond the Ford Class Carriers

The Navy is take a serious look at the future of its carrier fleet. What will the Navy look like 60 years from now? I am happy I served during the golden years of the Carrier and Carrier borne aviation. I actually was an Avionics technician that got grimy on the A-6 Intruder. I also had plenty of oppornity to watch the jet that became by favorite the F-14 Tomcat - hence my choice of username.

Here's a article to looks into the possible future of the Navy. Today's Navy already isn't looking like the Navy I knew. Now it's changing even more. Perhaps there will not be a carrier fleet 60 years in the future.

    Thanks for your service.
I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

The debate over the vulnerability of carriers has been going on for a while. There are arguments on both sides. We are developing defenses against the hyper-sonic cruise missiles and the ballistic Chinese missiles- to include lasers.

I have also seen articles about turning the USMC amphibious ships into carriers for the F-35Bs. That is a good idea whatever the fate of the carrier is.

The debate existed even when I was in 30 years ago. They were discussing how vulnerable carriers were.
