NYPD Officer Tests Positive, More Than 2 Dozen Out Sick

NYPD Officer Tests Positive, More Than 2 Dozen Out Sick

As I have mentioned before, COVID-19 is not a SHTF event. We still have social order, electricity, and water. But if enough first responders get the virus or are quarantined, the evil elements of society will start causing mayhem. We may be forced to defend ourselves when 9-11 says we have no officers to send.

Neighborhoods should be ready to set up an armed watch for collective self protection.

An NYPD officer has tested positive for the coronavirus as the number of cases continues to spread statewide.

More than 1,650 people are sick in New York State, with 923 of those cases in New York City, where the death toll has risen to 10.

Police sources tell CBS2 at least one officer at the 1st Precinct has tested positive and more than two dozen others are out sick, many feeling symptoms.

The precinct is still open in TriBeCa, but the NYPD does have a contingency plan in place if there’s a shortage of manpower.

Officials are investigating whether the officer who tested positive was exposed on the job.

Police sources say 31 officers are out sick, with 17 feeling symptoms.

If there is a shortage, sources say the department will institute mandatory 12-hour shifts, similar to what happened after 9/11.

And they have about 35,000 police officers. I couldn't find any current numbers so DiBlasio might have them down to 113.

For most healthy adults under 50 the virus symptoms are relatively mild and it lasts for a week or two.

At this point there is no reason to believe they won't take a week or two off work and then return to duty. Sort of like the way it's always been.

But for di Blasio to propose that skilled healthcare retirees step up and return to work to help out strikes me as somewhat boneheaded.

The elderly (retirees) are the most vulnerable/in danger of the coronavirus symptoms....and are the exact audience that we are trying to isolate from exposure.

Agree. Doctors and nurses are also getting sick. Masks are not doing the job.
