Again MCC, I’m not interested in third-party quotes. We’re talking of nationalism, not capitalism. If you’re going to go back to centuries past, none of the writings of the Founding Fathers mentioned nationalism, or control of the world’s resources.

It is difficult for Americans to understand because you have your own ideas that are totally alien to the outside world. The ideas you now have did the rounds in Europe a century ago and that's why I try to explain it in simple terms. Chris also gets the vast majority of his posts from third-parties and rarely makes an attempt to explain.

Certainly, patriotism would include defending one’s own country, but not attacking others.

Hitler was a national socialist, more like Bernie, not Trump. Nor has Trump invaded other countries. Nationalism is not defined as seeing your nation as superior, as you and Common Sense would have it, but seeing your own nation as having more value and interest to you. See post #8.

I just love discussions in which some fabricate definitions to argue a point. They're rather pointless.

As do you get your ideas from third parties. You just think you're special.

Yep. We are getting another "lesson" from the smart people. Be cool if the "smart people" actually understood what they were commenting on every now and then. Less focus on how worldly they are versus the rest of the peasants.

I am not going to worry about the misuse of the term nationalism by our press for the 2016 election through today. There is nothing wrong with taking care of your country. We can do both the world and our people at the same time. The world has no priority over our country. It has worked in America that way for a long time (I know bad sentence), they chose that word as a campaign hammer out of context. We do not care anymore.

I am tired of everyone fighting with each other. This is all by design.

Especially "smart people" who don't get opinions from media they hear or ideas from journals and books they read but who somehow in isolation from all others come up with personal definitions and worldviews. Sowell called it the vision of the anointed. Hayek called it the fatal vision. Oops, I'm referring to third parties.

No, not special, I just don’t need quotes from others to explain for me.

I like social and political science, probably because it’s what I used to do for a living. So when someone comes along and says, ‘You don’t know what you’re talking about’ it always perks me up because I think they’re going to explain. Usually it ends right there, but sometimes I get a long Ph.D. level copy and paste tract in return. Google is good for information, but very poor at explaining. I explain in my own words at what I think is an understandable level.

Many don’t even know the difference between socialism/ist and communism and until recently, half of America thought Obama was Messiah and now the other half think Trump has been sent by God. The center politics has almost disappeared and all that’s left are the polarized extremes shouting at each other. I’m left waiting for the Russians to invade Europe and the Chinese economy to collapse, or the North Koreans to nuke the US 6K miles away with missiles that can barely reach Japan … That I say it will never happen is lost on what now passes for information in America. But I try.

We all get our information originally from others, but knowing and explaining is what separates us from cut and paste. When you can explain in your own words I'm more than willing to listen. Give it a go. 500 words in your own words explaining the difference between patriotism and nationalism. Carry on, I'm waiting.

Ah, so you do get your opinions and ideas from others and you're not special after all. Put the ego back in its drawer, refugee.

There's no difference, refugee, whether someone quotes another, paraphrases another, summarizes another. The fact that that's all you got to argue with is revealing.

Everything after "I like social..." is irrelevant nonsense trying to cover up a lack of argument.

A Patriot has nothing to do with a sporting event, culture...
    A Patriot defends his country.

Nationalism was never a bad word until people started to attach racism to it which has nothing to do with Nationalism.

Both words are very good words.

But you come from a side that pretends liberal is progressive is Socialist but Socialism is nothing like Communist because it is now Democratic Socialist...

So. I really don't want to here your liberal professors try to rewrite definitions so they can call anyone that does not believe in their globalism a Nationalist so they can compare them to Hitler. You comparing Trump to Hitler just makes you the bigest %*#&Q(*$*(Q^$*^*$($E idiot in the room. (Yes I censored my own adjectives)

You have listened to the left distort these terms for so long that you think the words have new meanings.
