Multiply the backlash to Vietnam times 1000. I'm a little older than this generation in question, but I understand them pretty well, they're not going to comply with this $#@!, there is zero chance. Too many younger people already know the United States tendency to fight wars that are nonsense. We're the big dog in the yard, even Russia and China don't compare with us militarily, and we're geographically impossible to invade. There are no wars that can be fought that involve the defense of this country, only wars the benefit politicians and special interests. And the kids all know it.

That's what I'm saying, though. Those are the only wars we fight, and the kids would totally reject a draft for those wars, as they should. Any war with Russia and China that wasn't a proxy one would be on a nuclear stage where we'd all be $#@!ed anyway

I went in when I was 17 so I had not registered. The draft board tracked me down at some point and didn't seem to care that I was on active duty. I thought it was strange but just registered.

I was a PSG and half of my platoon was in that age group and unregistered. That was common in every platoon at that time. A directive came down from DA that everyone unregistered must do so by a certain date. It seemed senseless.

The services only want motivated volunteers. They dont want draftee's even the ones that dont run to Canada. This is just feel good politics.

The military would prefer volunteers. This isn't "feel good politics". It's preparing for the worst case scenario as unlikely as it may be.

People are insane if they think today's teen and 20 somethings are going to comply with a draft. And that's good, as it's a violation of ones natural rights.

Not all rights have to be natural. Societies have the right to defend themselves. If someone refuses they can find another society yo live in.

I don't think you know the younger generation well. Throwing away your life for no reason isn't cowardly, it's stupid. And in light of everything that has happened over the years, anyone who would believe that the government is genuine, authentic, honest at this point in what they do is pretty dumb.

Defending your country is not throwing your life away. If a war is unnecessary, elect better leaders.

I can't imagine a draft being called unless we were in WWIII. Then people are not going to be safe whether they are drafted or not.

There will never be another war that allows us months to train an Army. It's as simple as that.
