Post Today in History: Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

Triangle Shirtwaist fire kills 146 in New York City

In one of the darkest moments of America’s industrial history, the Triangle Shirtwaist Company factory in New York City burns down, killing 146 workers, on this day in 1911. The tragedy led to the development of a series of laws and regulations that better protected the safety of factory workers.

I saw that, not even allowed a bathroom break. I can't believe that.

This is a time when Unions served a great purpose.

Today, laws cover 99% of what Unions can provide in worker protections. It is sad and unfortunate that people had to die, for these things to be corrected.

It is a shame that unions became political organizations. Even the workers do not want them as seen in Right to Work States and union membership overall.
