President Trump's briefings concerning the coronavirus

I am something of a news junkie; so I look forward to the national/international news at 5:00 PM (CST) every Monday through Friday.

Lately, however, the news has been pre-empted--every day--by a "briefing" from the White House, that could just as well have been transmitted by other means (including even Twitter).

I am wondering if, perhaps, the president's advisors have admonished him that his handling of this matter will either make or break his presidency; and if he is, therefore, taking a high profile in its regard.

I suppose that this is a rather cynical interpretation of events.

But I really cannot think of a better explanation.

Can anyone else?

It is a national emergency. He is giving the nation a daily briefing as to our status.

Because he will be criticized if he doesn't. He is doing it because he has to politically. It is not his style.


Plus, some of us do not Tweet, Facebook, Link In or get involved in other narcissistic activities.

For openers, I disagree that it is a "national emergency." (Someone has--very accurately, I think--described it as a "dem panic," rather than a "pandemic.")

Moreover, it seems quite possible to give us that daily briefing through a different venue.

I didn't say it was a major national emergency. But you are correct to point out that the Dems and Media want to turn it into a panic.

I am listening to WMAL as I social distance. They just played a clip of CNN's Andrea Mitchell reading a report stating that Trump's approval ratings over his pres conferences are showing high approval from Independents and Dems. She said the press conferences are working for Trump.

I am sure she and her masters at CNN / DNC are fuming over this state of affairs.
