I think they do mostly realize that. Sure, people liked his entertaining rallies where they would bond with him over how awful Democrats and the supposedly unfair media are. People ( Ds and Rs both) gravitate towards this kind of vitriol. And Trump has never questioned the harm it does when he takes full advantage of that flaw in human nature. His political hedonism justifies all.

But they don't seem to care he is a self-interested jerk. And although I would derive some pleasure out of seeing his unearned over-confidence shattered on Nov 3, I don't truly care that he is jerk either. I care about the damage he does

As for Trump supporters, as best as I can figure they support him because...

-He represents their favorite "team" and they want to stick it to dems after 8 years of "the other side" winning.
-Although he doesn't really control the economy, they think electing an R will inspire (undeserved) confidence in it.
-Pro-lifers have no choice but to elect an R.
-They fear a (unlikely) rapid upheaval that would disrupt their current lives . If they are currently doing well, why risk it? Let the lazy peasants eat cake.


You may have noticed that none of the reasons I listed are specific reasons to vote for Trump personally. Trump is a RINO. Anyone with an R beside his name will do.

The reality is if you care about the economy the stupidest thing anyone can do would be to elect a president from the hate group the right calls a party. There numbers are a disaster . Second what they elected was a hate candidate because that spoke to who they are. The worst of them are the evangelicals , They think they can choose the devil as their leader and still call themselves a Christian.
The reality of what the right exist for is the transfer of wealth to the top, The Guns, abortions, and the flag waving patriotic bull$#@! , is only votes they really care nothing about these issues. they have achieved that already, all new wealth of this country goes to the golden few art the top since the trickle down lie . With Scum bags hand out to Big B and the wealthy This will get worse. Not one dollar of new wealth in this country has gone to anyone but the golden few at the top and nothing as in zip for anyone else , That is since 1981. That's what the right exist for ,couldn't be clearer.
