The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Saturday declared firearm manufacturers, distributors, ranges and retail stores as "essential businesses" that should remain open during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.



The following two lines were added to the DHS' memo about critical infrastructure, which serves as a guide for state governors and local leaders:

• Workers supporting the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, public safety personnel, and first responder.
• Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.

Pro-gun organizations applauded the decision, especially as state and local governments across the nation attempt to hinder peoples' ability to practice their Second Amendment rights. The city of Champaign, Illinois banned the sale of firearms and ammunition. Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva ordered gun stores to shut down but the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), the California Gun Rights Foundation (CGF), and the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) filed a lawsuit challenging the legality of the move.....snip~

From what you said it may not be a good idea to go to either place right now.
I have a friend south of Front Royal in the mountains...sounds like that may be the place to go.
I always liked Elite because I could concentrate on the firearm and not worry about weather issues.

But by what you said...should I avoid Elite for now?

That's up to you. I may be more paranoid than you. If I had access to a non-official range that is what I would always use.

I have a 200 yard range at my house that I plan to extend to 750 yards this year. The range I generally use for training is actually a 200 yard game and fish range out in the middle of nowhere. It is what is classified as a "primitive" range because it doesn't have any facilities, but it has a concrete shooting pad, 3 benches, 20' high side berms and the impact berm is close to 30 feet high. For tactical shooting, we can actually shoot in 3 directions safely on it.

It is good because it is isolated. It is about 2 miles from the nearest paved road and it is unmarked. Few people even know it exists.

I was looking for something on it. Other than saying they are critical infrastructure there isn't anything about people being able to go to the range. Might depend on areas with lockdowns just for the citizens.
