It has always been my impression that corporate fascism means a government of, by, and for the most powerful corporate interests in the nation. In that respect, corporate fascism exists in America by virtue of the relationship between election funding and lobbying and the resultant symbiosis between candidates and their corporate sponsors.

True, as I pointed out above, corporatism has come to mean that, and more as it includes unions as well. But corporate fascism meant something else altogether. Fascism comes from fascio meaning group or bundle, thus the fasces symbol of rods bundled together as a body (corpus), each rod an interest group like industry, agriculture, guilds, military and such. Mussolini's version of fascism had a decidedly corporate flavor i.e. the Camera dei Fasci e delle Corporazioni (Chamber of the Fascist Corporations).

What Mussolini meant by corporate was what Chris described. What you mean by corporate could describe virtually all of the developed world.

No, they represented everyone and everything from agricultural laborers to various professionals to industrial interests. Corporatism in it's original non-Internet sense is the organizing principle of a society. This new concept is fine but it becomes a problem when it's projected on the past.

That what I just said, but corporate in the sense of organizing society and the state around various interest groups such as industry, agriculture, military, etc, and I mention the state because these rods were organized around an ax, interest groups in service to the state. You did not see then the corporatism you see today in the sense of cronyistic collusion between government and self-serving companies and unions. In the US you don't see a telecommunications group in powerful positions, you see AT&T, Verizon, Apple, and the like in powerful positions.

D has addressed this but let me add that fascism was the opposite, it was anti-capitalistic...as well as anti-democratic, and anti-liberal. It had more in common, in this sense, with communism, but it was additionally anti-communist.

No problem Chris, my apologies that I didn’t do it earlier, but your fault for not knowing what ‘go away’ means and to stop posting argumentative nonsense. What you need to ask yourself is why do you go on threads to purposely disrupt them, ask to be TB’d and then complain about it, as on your first post on this thread? I gave you the benefit of the doubt, my mistake.Somebody please TB me as this is getting boring and boorish!
I have a love/hate relationship with TBs; I dislike using them, but realize why they were introduced. I also understand why Mods have to occasionally ban people and why we have ‘The Hole’ for ‘forum-style’ debates.
