No charges for Akron teacher accused of arranging to meet with people posing as 15-year-old boy

This is an interesting result. Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh and Stow Police Chief Jeff Film announced Thursday that no charges will be filed against an Akron teacher who appeared in a video interacting with a person pretending to be a 15-year-old boy. Walsh said Ohio’s importuning law allows for prosecution of online predators if a sting involves law enforcement officers posing as a child, but does not permit prosecution if stings are carried out by members of the public.

“. . . . When an adult citizen decides to make their own ‘To Catch a Predator’ TV show and take part in a confrontation, this is not a crime. A citizen cannot pose as a minor child under the law, only a police officer can do that. . . . ”

I know the Walsh and she's a hard-ass. If there was a way to charge this scum-bag, they'd do it.

I have tried the bulk of the lawsuits I've tried here:

Makes sense. LEOs are credentialed and given police powers. Citizens are not. Even the concept of a citizens arrest is pretty limited. And largely frowned upon these days.

So.... what do you do with this guy? Will the union cooperate and let the ASD fire him?

That is for the school district and union to handle.

If I was a parent there I would get the creep's identity all over social media so people know to shun the teacher in society.
