    Microgreens

So, I think I may have solved my problem of needing some greens. I am going to give it a go growing some Chia and Flax seeds. I have never tried it before so it may or may not work out. The sprouts are supposed to be very nutritious.

I am going to somewhat follow this video.

I will keep you up to date on my experiment, will I succeed or fail is the question? Here is what I got so far, water jugs with paper towels soaked with water sprinkled with seeds. Then I place them in a dark cupboard and water them twice a day for a few days.

If this works out I will try quinoa next.

Way back in the 70's I read a similar article about sprouting beans.

Doing the very same thing with beans and once they sprout, the nutrition content is huge.

Let me now how it works for you, and I will let you know how my Ghee making pans out.

That's a really good idea! I have done sprouts in a long time, but I have one of those three-layer sprouting trays. I'll have to do that today. I did order lettuce, kale and spinach seeds and they came in the mail yesterday, so I can get them started in the garden -- the kale anyway -- still might be too cold for the lettuce and spinach.

I have chia seeds, and I also have amaranth seeds. Those might make tasty sprouts. I have alfalfa seeds, too, and I like those sprouts. Alfalfa (the plant) also makes a nutritious tea and I need to go out and pick some of the new crop that's coming up.

I'm glad you mentioned sprouts -- that's a great idea!

It's exactly that kind of phrasing that gets you in trouble on Craig's List.

Your so lucky that you have such an amazing garden space, that is going to be a wonderful thing. It will be more meaningful than ever before. I guess the chia plants can grow 6 feet tall and you can eat the leaves and flowers, one of those articles I posted says you can make tea from the leaves of the chia plant too.

    Update:
My Flax seeds are growing great, but the Chia seeds not so much. I tossed that batch. I am going to try again a bit different. I watched a new video the guy says not to soak them just spray them and keep them humid. Ok! I just tasted one of the flax sprouts and it is amazing!! I am learning as I go.
