If true, and I don't think we'll really know for a few months, why would this be happening? Fauci seems to think it's linked to black people being fatter in general. I don't put a lot of stock in what Fauci says, he changes his mind at the drop of a hat, but here's his reasoning:

I find this odd because (in my opinion) blacks often seem to be more athletic than whites. But, I will agree that there are some pretty large black women around -- yet -- there are some pretty large white women as well, and more males that females seem to be succumbing to the virus, so that probably isn't it.
Are blacks taking fewer precautions? I doubt that -- although early on I remember hearing rumors that blacks were less susceptible than whites and I suppose that might have led some to relax their social distancing.
Poverty could play a role -- the poor may have less access to disinfecting product to keep themselves and their homes virus free. That seems to be a factor in Native American populations.

I have boxes of disinfectants and hand sanitizers, complements of our son who keeps bringing things over even though we've run out of room to store them. But, I can understand if families have limited finances, they may opt for food before they stock up on overpriced cleaners. Yet, more whites live in poverty than minorities, so the numbers shouldn't really skew for that reason.
It could be job-related. Do more minorities work in the service industry? Food service, perhaps? Is it more difficult for them to practice social distancing?

Those are some pretty stark numbers, so the question is -- why? And, what has to change to reduce it?
