Tornado warnings tuesday night

We were awakened Tuesday evening around 11:30 by the phone signal and then the siren started going off. I got up, got dressed and checked my phone - Tornado Warning - Take Safety Immediately. We went to the basement for an hour and watched TV on the iPad. It was interesting to hear them describe the wind over our area and them to guess whether it was or wasn't a tornado. Went upstairs to bed around 12:45.

We have power but the areas around us don't.

You must have got what missed us. We had a mean storm brewing to the west and it split and went around us. All we got was the winds and very mild weather.

Woke up to a lightning crash, then the power went out a few seconds later. This was about 12:45 am. Could hear the storm coming like a freight train, and radar confirmed it. Couldn't get back to sleep for the longest time. Power came back on about 5:30 am. Wife said she could hear chainsaws running in the woods, and men shouting, and large truck backup beepers. God Bless those power workers.

We didn't have tornado warnings, just severe thunderstorm warning. Turned out, the leading edge of the storm was pretty severe, but luckily the rest was mostly rain. Which was a relief, since the warning said winds up to 60 mph, and large hail were possible. We are on a slab, so, no basement.

I'm way south of you all, and we had very warm temperatures and a light breeze that would suddenly gust.

You do have low spots around you, don't you?

Yes, and our house backs up to a hill, and has a block foundation wall about three feet up, so probably adds some protection. We've been trying to clear all the trees on that hill for the last couple of years, but it's a monumental task. I've always wanted to buy a cargo ship container and bury it in the side of the hill for a tornado shelter, but again, we're not made of spare time and money, lol.

The NWS said at least three tornadoes touched down in parts of Northeast Ohio during the wicked weather.

In Summit County, an EF-1 hit at 11:52 Tuesday night.

It went through Barberton and Green — about 10 miles — with maximum winds of 90 mph. The tornado finally lifted west of the Akron-Canton Regional Airport at 12:03 a.m.

Earlier Wednesday, the National Weather Service said an EF-1 went through parts of Lorain and Medina County; and, an EF-0 touched down in East Sparta in Stark County.
