Respectfully speaking and in response to your posting;
It's important to remember that when you give a "thanks" to a posting, you are giving it because you feel it adds to the discussion at hand and not solely based on whether or not you agree 100% or at least that's the way it's supposed to be.
Clarifying the above and speaking for myself, I have given thanks to postings that I might not have agreed with 100% of the time, but gave it because I thought it was constructive and added to the discussion. The posters in here come from all walks of life which gives the forum a diverse grouping of viewpoints whether or not you agree completely with them. The idea is to encourage constructive discussion on viewpoints and not to ignore it when people offer valid opinions.
In this particular case, @Trish is expressing her viewpoint on the values she may feel the republican's have are more towards corporations (this is my interpretation of her post only) just like there are some in here who feel that democrats values are more towards socialist programs (and I've seen that in here as well). I happen to think it was a valid posting and added to the discussion; hence my giving her a thanks for her post.
That being said and in complete response to your posting, my viewpoint is this; "the republican party" is composed of a vast majority of Caucasians, whereas the democratic party is composed of a much more diverse membership (I will post a link to back this up). Keep in mind the key word here is "majority" and not entirety. The majority of the republican party tends to support corporations (which includes banks and big money people) and has a different mindset when it comes to the working person in comparison to the democrat party. Both parties have millionaires as members as well.
It would also be fair to stipulate that the democrats (although to a much lesser extent) have the same interests as well, however the majority of them tend to favor the working person individually. As to values, each party tends to have their own set of values, which is up for debate as to the value to American society.
All in all no one should ever be challenged nor criticized for the reason of giving a thanks to anyone in here based on my first two paragraphs above.
