Since I have been back, I've noticed members being threadbanned at OP request. Can an OP do that for any reason?

Seemingly.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.
See rule 10 here: http://thepoliticalforums.com/thread...nd-Regulations.
That was the original conception.
Let's just say things have changed since to where the answer to your question is yes.

I did read that before posting, trying to find the answer. But it's not clear that that is the intention of the rule.
I am not complaining, but just curious.
If someone thread banned me from their thread, I would never visit anything that person started again. It doesn't seem like a good way to make friends or promote activity.

It's a way of dealing with trolls. The place is overrun by them and a "tpf thread" as they're called is the only way to police them. Management allows them to run wild and pretty much do what they want. It's a good rule if you want to have a serious discussion. It's sad, but necessary.

I've never understood that function in that area of the board, and don't pay much attention to it. It seems to be a favorite place for liberals to lose their $#@! for festering grievances they have with others. So what's new?
I use it when I want a thread I post to be discussed seriously. I would never tb someone just for disagreeing with me. I will tb them in a heart beat if they resort to name calling, off topic post or trolling. I usually try to put out a warning as well before I tb someone.
