    Perhaps they didn't make it. The article did indicate that the mother cat didn't have much interest in feeding her baby. Some cats are simply not maternal or perhaps she was too young. There are many reasons why a cat won't nurse her kittens.

    Bringing the kitten was a strong display of trust. I hate to say it, but that was likely the only (surviving) kitten.
