    I was watching an old movie the other night on TMC and the cook was slapping that lard on the griddle. Made me cringe.

    The "lard" in the OP? Cotton seed oil? Animal sourced lard is not bad for you in moderation. Vegetable based oils are one of the major culprits in the large increase in heart disease in the West over the last few decades.
