I once nurtured a cat who had been hit by a car, it was hiding in my parents garage, and too scared to come out. It took weeks to get it to come out and take care of it.

Then one time we went away on vacation and asked the landlady to care for our cat. We came home and the cat was found drowned in a ditch in our back yard! The $#@!!
