Post Can Genetic Engineering Bring Back the American Chestnut?

Can Genetic Engineering Bring Back the American Chestnut? -- The tree helped build industrial America before disease wiped out an estimated three billion or more of them. To revive their lost glory, we
may need to embrace tinkering with nature.

This is an interesting story on the drive to save/recreate the American Chestnut. What a great thing. I hadn't realized

We had a few Chinese Chestnut trees in our yard in the last town we lived in. The first year we lived there, we thought they were so neat and we could roast some. Nope. Full of worms. But I think they are the most beautiful of nuts out of the pod. Kids had a great time torturing each other at the bus stop by chucking them and shouting "Catch"! and getting revenge by putting them in each other's beds.

It'd be great to bring the American Chestnut back.
    You are wrong about police.

    Sounds like a rough neighborhood.

They are kind of difficult to walk through when they litter the ground in the Fall.

I read that all four varieties of chestnut are edible. Horse chestnut is different and is not edible.
