I haven't heard that. But even if that's true, when did that info come out? 2020? 2019? Back in 2016/2017, the FBI operated on contemporary info that the Russians did do it. And that sounds like a basis for an investigation, all by itself.

BTW, if you are feeling confident of your assertions, I think you should correct the Wikipedia entry on this topic. It contradicts you on both counts, showing multiple firms investigated the hack and also that it was the Russians who did it...

"Forensic evidence analyzed by several cybersecurity firms,
CrowdStrike, Fidelis, and Mandiant (or FireEye), strongly indicates that two Russian intelligence agencies infiltrated the DNC computer systems. The American cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which removed the hacking programs, revealed a history of encounters with both groups and had already named them, calling one of them Cozy Bear and the other Fancy Bear, names which are used in the media.[1][2][3][4][5]"

No they didn't. Crowd Strike, the DNC's cyber security contractor found the transfer speeds were too fast to have been done remotely. The CEO of Crowd Strike testified to congress that they found no evidence that Russia did it.

Someone on the inside did it, likely with a thumb drive.

"CrowdStrike President Shawn Henry's admission under oath, in a recently declassified December 2017 interview before the House Intelligence Committee"

First, "December 2017." That was long after the investigations had already begun. So the FBI still thought it was definitely Russia when they started investigating. No wrongdoing.

    More importantly...
The premise of this entire thread is that we should not have investigated because we had no "proof" of wrongdoing. But that is not how things work.
The article you posted asserts that there was no "concrete" evidence. So there *was* evidence, but nothing considered a slam dunk. So what??? The entire purpose of an investigation is to find out if there is any proof. That's why you do investigations. You see something suspicious. So you investigate. See how that works?

Declassified transcripts: CrowdStrike couldn't say for sure Russians stole DNC emails
"couldn't say *for sure*" Exactly. So, what should we do? We investigate. That's how it works.

Why lie? You know the server problem, whatever it was occurred months before. Further this was about Crooked's subpoenad, erased emails.

    You are dishonest.

I dont know if what you are saying is true or not, but it doesn't matter.

Even if its true, At the time the investigation started the FBI operated under the belief that it was the russians. The fact that we learn this stuff later on doesn't change that

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said, referring to emails Mrs. Clinton had deleted from the private account she had used when she was secretary of state....

As it turns out, that same day, the Russians — whether they had tuned in or not — made their first effort to break into the servers used by Mrs. Clinton’s personal office, "
