Here's a link to a short video of them tasing the bird before it got away. https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comment..._tased_on_the/
You are wrong about police.
This one is bad. The emu wasn't driving around with a bottle of tequila and it wasn't coughing on police officers in the midst of a pandemic. Bad police!
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Cops come into family yards and shoot their dog. I truly believe I would go get my shotgun and level a cop that did that to my dog.
Yes. They can be very dangerous. We had to kill a Mountain Lion that had wondered into the city about 20 mins before the streets would have been filled with little kids walking to school. You wouldn't believe the hate we got for shooting that animal. People think theres always a wildlife expert with a tranquilizer gun on call for instant response. Ive never once even seen an animal control guy with one and they take hours to respond anyway if you can even get ahold of one.
Theres no Vets with tranquilizer rifles. They wouldnt even know which end shoots on any kind of gun. Maybe a zoo but you think a wild animal that can jump 45' is just going to stand there and wait two hours for Marlin Perkins to show up from the zoo, if in fact you can even find someone.
Puma's take full grown joggers. A 10yo walking to school is a gimmee. And I'm sure theres all kinds of stupid stupid enough to get out of a car to pet or feed the ostrich, or emu, or whatever. Looks like a real fun loving bird.

It was a judgement call. Rather doubt the cops took any joy in having to put the bird down.
Sounds like numerous efforts were made in trying to capture the emu. Corralling with police cars. Tasers. No luck. If left on its own probability was high the animal would either have been killed on the highway, killed by dogs/coyotes/cats, or starved to death. Plus there was the issue of the distraction it was causing to the highway driver rubber necks.

Didn't antifa cause worse traffic problems than that emu?

This is what happens when we have a system that just sort of lets cops do what they want. If the ones who don't value human life get away with murder, then of course they're going to kill animals without hesitation.
