    Looks like we are via the govt. From what ive read its not illegal what Exxon is doing they are covered by a 30 yr old law.

    Due to a thirty-year-old law, Exxon will not be paying into the federal fund that will pay for the cleanup of 12,000 barrels of crude oil that leaked from its Pegasus Pipeline in Arkansas. The pipeline, which transports oil from the tar sands region of Canada, ruptured in Mayflower, Arkansas, where cleanup crews have been finding evidence of harm to local wildlife. The loophole that enables Exxon to avoid paying an eight cents per gallon tax into the cleanup fund? Technically the pipeline was not transporting—and did not leak—oil.

    BS, Common. Exon has said they'll cover all costs;

    ExxonMobil has said it will pay all cleanup costs associated with the Mayflower, Arkansas oil spill.

    That FUND is nothing but a tax that wouldn't even be there at times like this.
    It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

    That fund is BS whether or not it's payed into.

    Exon, BP or whoever is going to do everything possible to clean up and compensate those affected

    to allay law suites which would cost way more than the clean up and compensation.

    They are going to low ball everyone like BP did on the Gulf Coast.

    In this particular circumstance, I don't see a 'loophole' -- a loophole suggests that something is happening despite the overall spirit of the law. Not the case here, its an express exclusion. Its an affirmative legislative decision to do one thing, but not another.
