My little sister loves dogs. I remember she had a dog named "Sugar" after the song "Sugar Sugar". One day Sugar fell in the frozen lake in front of the house. I still remember very clearly her running in the house saying "Sugar fell in the lake"! My dad took off running and jumped into the frozen lake to rescue Sugar. He was a hero that day, still is

My eldest loves using scratch posts so he wears his down naturally but the anxious cat and the newer kitten require their nails to be trimmed. They generally like the attention for the first two paws, then they realize you are violating them on the third paw, and there's a slight struggle for the fourth. I try to break it into two sessions so they never get to the point of realizing what's going on.

We bought my mom a dog (some kind of terrier) after my father died in 2017 to add some life to the house. She takes him out at 6AM, twice during the day and one more time at 9PM. That's one reason why I don't want a dog.

She's getting her exercise taking the dog out. It's good for her and the dog.

Thats a big part of it for me too. I cant imagine how degraded I would feel standing around waiting for a dog to do its thing. Now I feel cheap.
I used to date a girl with a Shizsu and she worshipped that dog. One night I did take it out. It was minus about 500 degrees lol. I felt sorry for it and bought it dog booties and a Santa iutfit at Petco the next day

Definitely. She also moved into a smaller place. Not quite as comfortable for me if I sleep there but it's plenty for her and the dog. Half the property taxes too.

A cat just knows where to go. Listening to co-workers it almost seems like raising a puppy is like raising a baby.

The dogs Ive bought in my life, not the wanderers my family bring home, have a job to do. Hunting, protection, actually both. Now I have a 85 lb East German GSD who is so smart he understands a lot of the language I tell him. Its such a load off my mind knowing he's protecting my wife when I'm not there. He's so attached to her he even gives me the greasy eyeball when I hug and kiss her. He's very protective of her.

But he's 1 or 2 hours out of my day every day. Walking, training, exercising and Ive never owned a dog thats easy to clip nails with. They all hated it.

I've had dogs with black toenails - it's hard to know where the quick is.

We had one -- Katie -- she loved being groomed, and when we would groom our show Saints, Katie would always try to get on the table too. I would always let her get up after I finished with another dog and I'd brush and bathe her and blow-dry her as well. She would hold so still when I clipped her nails. She wanted the grooming to go on and on, and she would sometimes lie down on the table when I would tell her to jump down.

    I miss that girl.
