That's funny you mentioned the black pepper. Since we've been cooking so much, I was also amazed at how quickly the grinder was emptying out. I love my fresh ground pepper.
For entertainment purposes, I have an allergy to pepper, black, white or red. Other than basic herb seasonings and garlic, salt and pepper are added post-cooking.

It's not fun trying to eat out, and difficult enough to cook at home minus the pepper.

Wow, that stinks, I'm sorry. How severe is your allergy?

I haven't reached the stage where I need an EPI pen, but tongue swelling, mouth itch and burn. I've learned through the years that unknown foods I take a bite and wait a couple of minutes, and if I suspect there is pepper (I usually know rather quickly) I off set a great deal by eating bread or crackers, then rinsing my mouth out. Helps a great deal. It's the times that it gets used in unlikely foods that the reaction is, uh, note worthy.

I can eat bell peppers, don't care for the other vegetable type peppers. It's the herbaceous ones that I'm allergic to.

I get distracted and like today I checked out electronics in the middle of grocery shopping. Therefore I forgot more than tomatoes. I even forgot to take my list. Anyone have any better ideas?
