Correct, I can't stand people who push hate crime or hate speech laws. I don't have to like everyone and they don't have to like me.

yeah. I get that. I have yet to see one black man go on trial, charged with a hate crime, after raping and killing a white woman or brutally killing an Asian male.

Actually hate crimes were created by Congress to give the Feds jurisdiction over defendants where local governments were not prosecuting white on black crimes. And they were only used if the locals didn't prosecute. They were not meant to pile on.

The problem is they have been taken too far and then states created their own- something totally unneeded since they can just prosecute the crime, such as assault.

Interesting, Hadley Arkes, Beyond the Constitution, chronicles how the courts did the same thing with public accommodation where they thought local authorities weren't enforcing it to their standards.

Not all states have such a statute. Even then, that is not a law that only encompasses black people, it covers all races and ethnicities.

You need to learn the difference in disparity vs correlation. If the "black man" raped and killed the white woman simply because she was white, then he definitely falls under the hate crime blanket. Same with killing an Asian male. It was never meant to be used in the case you bring up, simply attaching it because you imagine something as being unfair.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. You can't pass a blanket law and expect some group not to be victims of this. Like this guy and I have worked in nursing homes, there are people in these places that will smile and talk nice to relatives and are abusive to the ones in there. He won't be charged with a hate crime. If he was white and the old man black, they would be rioting and the guy would have that charge too. The media would claim he was a Trump supporter and white supremist.

All a black man has to say is that he called me this or that, and it is deemed a hate crime.
Doesn't quite work that way for the white man.
