I was raised on self-reliance and no nurture, so I obviously tended to move to politics that did not depend on mothering to survive.

For me it was all nature. Nurture creates weakness.

That was my experience too.

Evolution works at the level of a population, not individuals. Lamarckians thought it operated on individuals, Darwin on populations. Specifically allele frequencies in a population.

Nature is what we think of as pre-wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception e.g. the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual^.

In this case nature means your genetic predisposition and nurture (as a noun) means your upbringing, education and environment.
