The Seattle Seahawks which blew away the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48 was one of the best defenses ever. Specially when you consider that year, the Broncos had the best offensive performance in NFL history.

Most of the teams that won were great for the year. It also depends what you like.

Obviously the 2016 Patriots is my sentimental pick.

The Steelers were great on both side of the line. Swan and Stallworth was like watching a ballet. They made Bradshaw look acceptable. The defense itself was an all-star hall of fame team.

San Fransisco in 1990 was as least as dominate as the Steelers best team and the 49ers had a real quarterback.

You cannot ignore the 72 & 73 Dolphins. They ran, threw and had a good defense. How do you argue with perfection in 72.

The Oakland Raiders in 1977 owned both sides of the field.

Before 68 the passing game was a lesser part of the total game so it is difficult to compare them.

They were playing talent levels against the same talent levels -- with none of these mamby-bamby rules.

But they were not the designed athletes like today. Designed athletes are the way of the future, which sucks. Too big too fast for the Steelers or the Niners. I agree that QB's had to actually be football players back then.
