We also sent to the Soviets about 350 locomotives, 1,640 flat cars, and close to half a million tons of rails and accessories, axles, and wheels, all for the improvement of the railways feeding the Red armies on the Eastern Front. For the armies themselves we sent miles of field telephone wire, thousands of telephones, and many thousands of tons of explosives. And we also provided machine tools and other equipment to help the Russians manufacture their own planes, guns, shells, and bombs. We supplied our allies with large quantities of food. The Soviet Union alone received some 3,000,000 tons.

We kept Hitler busy in the desert. Then, we invaded Italy and Normandy. We were far more than mop-up duty.
We supplied the material for Russia to beat the Germans. The Germans were in retreat long before Normandy. We weren't secondary but the Russians didn't need us for the fight, just the means to do it.

Operation Barbarossa failed for four main reasons, Nazi Germany fighting on two fronts, US supplying war materials and food to Russia, Russian ferocity and Russian winters.

@Trish...I am not a Trump supporter, but voted for him....and i also had a Russian girlfriend.
Two years ago we spent May in Paris.
So what does that make me?
If you say a Russian "lover" you would be right. There was much to be admired.
That is her with the red hair. The other lady is Valeria's friend.
What happens in Paris, stays in Paris.

I think they more replaced them then destroyed them. Estimates are about 20 m after the war but we'll never know how many Stalin killed. For all the whingers about how America is a "Police State" now heres how a real Police State rolls. https://news.stanford.edu/2010/09/23...nocide-092310/

"Kulaks" were semi-independent, very productive farmers, who didn't want collectivization of their farms and live stock, which BTW starved to death millions of Ukrainian's, "socialism" being such a wonderful economic model.
Accounts “gloss over the genocidal character of the Soviet regime in the 1930s, which killed systematically rather than episodically,” said Naimark. In the process of collectivization, for example, 30,000 kulaks were killed directly, mostly shot on the spot. About 2 million were forcibly deported to the Far North and Siberia.

They were called “enemies of the people,” as well as swine, dogs, $#@!roaches, scum, vermin, filth, garbage, half animals, apes. Activists promoted murderous slogans: “We will exile the kulak by the thousand when necessary – shoot the kulak breed.” “We will make soap of kulaks.” “Our class enemies must be wiped off the face of the earth.”
One Soviet report noted that gangs “drove the dekulakized naked in the streets, beat them, organized drinking bouts in their houses, shot over their heads, forced them to dig their own graves, undressed women and searched them, stole valuables, money, etc.”

The destruction of the kulak class triggered the Ukrainian famine, during which 3 million to 5 million peasants died of starvation.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident,” "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

No. American industrial might was the key.

Is this guy another incompetent Russian bot?
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.
