No, it is not a good reason to protest because protest is nothing more than an excuse to trash the place.

You realize, I hope, that protests in black Africa are not tolerated. Protesters are simply shot dead.

I support peaceful protest, but you're right that trash is often left in their wake.

I was unaware of protestors being shot in Africa, but that's one of the reasons I love my country! Freedom of speech and assembly.

Maybe the National Guard will be able to quell the rioting tonight. I sure hope so.

There are many "root causes," including poverty, lack of parental guidance, lack of opportunity, criminal tendencies and more. But, what you're missing is the underlying cause of those causes. There's something deeper -- something that contributes to poverty, lack of parental guidance, criminal tendencies, and lack of opportunity, and as long as you ignore it, you'll never understand how to fix it.

I already laid it out in this thread so I'm not going to do it again, but it would behoove to go back and read it.

I've read every post you've typed in this thread and I haven't seen anything remotely resembling either contributing factors or your solutions to the problems. Please proceed.

Taking that into consideration, then juxtapose it with his constant drive to call everything directed towards whites as not racist, while quickly calling anything someone black does racist, I believe you will find what is hidden beneath.

From what I have read, the Chief was part of a lawsuit years ago accusing the department of racism. This isn't just suddenly talking points, but it is suddenly national news that this is a department and a city that has been struggling with racial bias for a long time.

Harassment and excessive force against members of the black community seem to be the primary complaints.

I'm not saying it's mere talking points either but it's unclear what exactly he means. Moreover, the struggles in question sometimes center around arrest rates and such which is problematic.

Sounds kind of vague. How do you measure this sort of thing? How can you even be sure it's really happening? Hopefully details will be forthcoming.
