Larry Bird wasn't Julius Erving but his lack of athleticism is a little overstated. He had decent quickness and about a 28 inch vertical, which certainly isn't jaw dropping but it's definitely better than your average weekend warrior.

Early pro basketball was dominated by Jews. It helped that black inner city kids were not allowed on the teams. They were the inner city kids living on concrete.
It was the same conditions that drove so many blacks to pro basketball 40 years after.

That may be true, but I couldn't even tell you a relevant Jewish basketball player within the last 40 years. White Americans have kind of sucked the last 20 or so years too, there are no more John Stocktons or Chris Mullins. All the white superstars of the last 20 years, be it the last generation with Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, or Pau Gasol, or the kids playing now like Luka Doncic or Nikola Jokic, are all international.

I didn’t say he lacked athleticism. I said that he couldn’t jump. He was a tremendous athlete.

28 inch vertical isn't terrible. That was his recorded vertical out of college. Now when he started to get older and had injury issues, it was probably quite a bit lower.

I probably have a 6" vertical.

I agree with SW that golf is not a sport. That is like calling pool a sport.

My HS didn't pick up soccer until I was not eligible to start. That sucked.

Golf was invented to suck at. I did that this afternoon. I mean it's not normal to have a four hole strech with three doubles and a birdie! Esoecially with the birdie being on the hardest whole of the bunch. LOL

I was the second best tennis player on my Middle school team

I loved tennis, probably the best hs kid in our little town. But we were too small to have a team. I did teach the game to all four lids and they can all play.

Last time I played golf, I shot a 168 for 18 holes but that was counting every shot including lost balls and water shots.
