I went a little too far. I have had bouts of insomnia for about 6 weeks now and I finally linked it to body fat percentage and protein. My body was in revolt. I upped my protein again to at least a gram per pound of lean mass and make sure I eat a small but protein rich meal before bed. It was bad. I'd fall asleep for about an hour and then wake up. I'd be wide awake or I'd have hot flashes. I would just grab my book and read for a while. That would eventually work. I'd be up a few more times but I could fall back asleep. It was so frustrating. My saving grace was this happened during quarantine so I could sleep later. I would been exhausted if I had to commute.

I haven't been sleeping enough for my body to repair from workouts, so I have been really sore lately.

Yep. Same here. That can really f with your sleep too especially if the amino acids just aren't there in sufficient amounts. Try that protein before bed idea. Nothing huge. Just a cup of Greek Yogurt or Skyr.

I typically take a day off once a week though. That helps with soreness.

Keep in mind that excess protein is not harmful. That's a myth. Your body will just use it for energy instead of repair and growth. You have nothing to lose by consuming more than your body can utilize in a day.

A few people have died eating an almost all protein diet, but if I remember correctly there was a genetic factor involved.
