Lady Antebellum changes name to Lady A

    This pisses off Lady A.

She is right, if she has been using the name for 20 years she has a legitimate complaint.

The word "Antebellum" is not an obscenity or a racial slur. This PC idiocy needs to stop.

Now its been discovered that another already has the Name of Lady A. So the band won't be able to take the name of Lady A.

I've seen her and her band at a few local town festivals. She's good.

I don't know who she is.

Whether she is well known or not if she has copyrighted the name, its hers. Lady Antebellum can't just take it. The stupidity of it all is Lady Antebellum wanting to change their name in the first place. There were no racial connotations to the name other than what the permanently offended read into it. Antebellum means "Before the War" and speaks to the social and economic system of that era. It actually referred to the plantation system rather than slavery. Of course the large plantations (estimated at 5 percent of the population but controlling 30 percent of the wealth) were largely dependent on slavery. If slavery increased in cost (as it did for many small farms) it would have been replaced, as are all things, by something cheaper. This is how Brazil ended its slave system years after the United States.

Think about it, if slavery had been allowed to die out on its own because of increased technology 400,000 lives would have been saved. Ex slaves would have been accepted more readily in society over time and all this bull$#@! we are now facing could have been avoided.

Of course the best way to have avoided it completely was to not have the slaves at all, our biggest mistake as a nation.

I disagree Nate.....the biggest mistake we made was allowing the Democrat party to exist.

You wouldn't. She's a local. She's not a national entertainer. Still, she's used this name for more than 20'years. It doesn't matter if she's not a nationally known entertainer.

Maybe Lady Antebellum will bow or kneel to political correctness and change their name to Lady Emancipation?

Lady Antebellum Gets a Brutal Lesson When You Kowtow to the Left-Wing Mob.....

And now country trio Lady Antebellum decided to make a preventative move to change their name to Lady A in the wake of the Floyd unrest. Political correctness is a cancer. We all know that, but the band's move was not without controversy because some blues artist who goes by that name is calling them out, slamming their decision as one grounded in…privilege (via Rolling Stone):

Well, that's it. Lady A, the white version, is canceled. They didn't need to change their name. Have the Dixie Chicks done the same? I don't think so—and they're as lefty as they come. Lady Antebellum tried to "be woke" and got decapitated anyway. Looking down the barrel of the political correctness gun is both stupid and unnecessary. Those who go out of their way to assimilate to this insane ethos usually end up with buckshot to the face. Lady Antebellum is just the most recent victim......snip~
