Coronavirus: Dexamethasone proves first life-saving drug

BBC is reporting Dexamethasone is looking promising for those already infected with severe cases of Covid. Seems to be a promising first step but a long way from what we really need in my opinion; a true vaccine.

Why do we need a "true vaccine" for something that kills 0.2% of the people it infects?

I mean, it would be nice to have one, but it's hardly necessary.

It's all fun and games until it affects you. I wonder if this was the attitude prior to the Polio vaccine.

Personally, I think any medical advancement is necessary and quite needed. I couldn't care if it relates to my life and needs or not. I would think basic empathy alone would drive us towards a solution.

It's not fun, it's just a fact. About 99.8% of those infected survive. So maybe 0.2% of the population actually needs a vaccine.

I wonder if this was the attitude prior to the Polio vaccine.
Actually, it was. Even at the height of polio fear, nobody thought to lock down society until a vaccine was discovered. This is the first time in history where entire societies have been quarantined in order to stop the spread of a disease. And it's far more dangerous than the virus it's intended to contain.

Personally, I think any medical advancement is necessary and quite needed.
It took a lot of courage to take that position.

I couldn't care if it relates to my life and needs or not. I would think basic empathy alone would drive us towards a solution.
How about basic empathy towards the millions of people who've lost jobs, businesses, and essential socialization?

I hope that Trump does not support it or the MSM will tell everyone it is poison.
