MLB this summer and the Dodgers in particular

MLB has been my private interest since I saw Sandy Koufax, when I was a kid, strike out 18 Giants in the old Colosseum in LA. Amazing. Then watched the bums beat the White Sox in the World Series that year, with one game in person.

This year I am simply not excited about a 60 game season ravaged by Covid.

What are others' takes on all of this?

I'll watch some games on t.v., as usual, because I love The Game and I'd watch a Little League match-up if it was being broadcast. I always used to attend 20-25 games at Chase Field every year and I'll miss that, but more than anything I think I'll miss the Arizona Fall League, where all thirty Major League teams' best minor leaguers form a half dozen teams and play for six weeks, and you get to meet and talk with the best players before they get too big to get close to.

The magical thing about Baseball is that just about everyone has, at one time or another, played it, or a part of it, at some time in their life - even if it was just playing catch with your dad in the back yard, or playing t-ball when you were five. So much of The Game looks so easy, it's easy to imagine "I could do that", even though only a tiny percentage of us ever actually could, even with all the training in the world, do it on a professional level.

Sorry, I guess that was mostly all off-topic - I guess I was just in the mood to talk about Baseball.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"in the mood to talk about baseball" is completely understandable.

I guess the covid19 environment leeches the magic out of The Game (I agree with your uses of caps.)

I like the idea of a shorter season. In a normal situation they way too many games. I'd like to see the season cut in half.
